The Civic Oration is a contest held annually for students in fifth grade to promote public speaking on topics of civic importance. |

The Environmental Club is an organization of students, staff members, and parents dedicated to the development of environmental projects to enhance teaching and learning, to encourage recycling, and also to improve school beautification. |
| The Geography Bee is a competition held once a year for fourth and fifth grade students to promote an understanding of basic geographic facts and concepts. | |

Heritage Week is a special week in April celebrating our cultural diversity and heritage by studying about early settlers to this region of North Carolina. It culminates in the Heritage Day Celebration with classroom exhibits, music, and dances of the various cultures represented. |

Honor Roll is an incentive program to reward excellence in academic performance. A student must have all A's and B's to qualify for a certificate each nine weeks or all A's to earn "Super Star" status. |

Just Say No! Club is a program for students of all ages that seeks to build self-esteem and educate boys and girls about the dangers of drugs. |

Quiz Bowl is an annual competition for selected fourth and fifth grade students held locally to challenge and stimulate academic excellence. |

Reflections is a PTA yearly event that encourages student creativity and participation in visual arts, photography, musical composition, and writing. |

Safety |
Safety Patrol is an ongoing, daily activity for selected fourth and fifth grade students to help enforce schoolwide safety. Students are chosen for their good character traits such as responsibility and trustworthiness. |

The Spelling Bee is a contest for fourth and fifth grade students that tests a student's spelling ability, culminating with a competition at the national level. |

Student Government Association is an organization of students elected by their peers to represent the student body in discussing and deciding issues of importance to the students and the school. |

Terrific Kids are special students selected once a month and every nine weeks from each homeroom. They are considered to be outstanding in one or more areas as judged by the teachers and his/her peers. |
